Kathleen E. Matheu was born in San Francisco, California in 1948. Due to the military careers of both her father and husband, Ms. Matheu traveled extensively, living in many interesting duty stations, including Japan, Germany, Italy, Hawaii, and Spain.

Ms. Matheu and her husband Robert were married in 1969 and have resided permanently in Texas since 1976. They have two daughters, Danielle and Nicole, both of whom graduated from Humble High School, and a new granddaughter.
